A pedestrian died Wednesday after a driver suspected to running a red light struck her in Encanto, according to San Diego police.
The woman, 50, was using the crosswalk to proceed southbound while the driver, a woman, 49, headed west in a 2018 Nissan Kicks in the 6300 block of Imperial Avenue.
The Kicks hit the victim in the crosswalk at about 9:45 a.m. She suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene. The driver was not injured.
Detectives from the department’s Traffic Division will continue to review the evidence before making a decision on charges. They determined, though, that alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
