FOUR-TIME Super Bowl champion Joe Thuney has penned a two-year extension with the Chicago Bears.
The 32-year-old was traded to the Bears by the Kansas City Chiefs two months ago in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Although he is yet to make a single appearance, the guard has already earned a huge contract extension.
Thuney has agreed to stay on for another two years and is now set to earn a guaranteed $33.5million.
He will take home $17.5m per year and earn around $51m in total.
The former NC State man was a key player for the Chiefs last season throughout their run to the Super Bowl.
But Andy Reid and his players ultimately fell short on the day, losing 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.
Thuney was about to enter the final term of his five-year deal, worth $80m, with the Chiefs when he was traded.
Before his time in Kansas City, he spent four years with the New England Patriots.
There, he was a teammate of Tom Brady and was coached by Bill Belichick.
Earlier this year, Belichick and Reid spoke about Thuney’s talent and versitility.
On the Let’s Go podcast, Reid said: “Bill let me have Joe Thuney so I appreciated that.
“That kid, we have him out at left tackle now. Bill, you had him as an All-Pro center, All-Pro guard, now he’s out there at left tackle and he doesn’t say a word about it. He doesn’t complain.
“That’s a whole different world out there. There’s no security blanket when you’re on that side. That’s a tough spot. But he just steps in and goes.”
Belichick responded: “That’s just the kind of guy he is.
“He’s just gonna line up and play and you’re gonna get his best on every snap. And you know what, it’s good enough.”
