Most golfers, fresh from winning a third major championship and with a busy summer to come, would opt for a week off after their triumph.
Not Scottie Scheffler.
The World No. 1 was imperious when winning the PGA Championship by five shots last week – not least because he probably didn’t have his A game – but he has no intention of taking a rest.

That’s because Scheffler is New York-born but Texas-bred and a Texas resident, too.
So he knows how much this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge matters for Lone Star State golfers.
The host course – Colonial Country Club – is also known as Hogan’s Alley in honour of the great Ben Hogan and Scheffler badly wants to win there to add to his victory in the CJ Cup earlier this month in another great Texas city, Dallas.

Scottie Scheffler to win
The World No. 1 had a frustrating time before, during, and after the Masters.
Before the year’s first major he led the Houston Open at halfway but could only finish second.
At the Masters and then a week later in the RBC Heritage he was second after 18 holes but yet again failed to complete a first win of the season.
Everything has changed in May.
He opened the CJ Cup with a 61 to open up a lead on the field and added 63-66-63 to win by eight.
Last week he carded 65-71 at the weekend to first create a three shot advantage and then extend it to five.
That’s sensational form and we cannot overlook his form in Texas.
In his last dozen starts his worst finish is 15th and he’s ended the week in the top five 10 times including victory in the WGC Match Play and the aforementioned CJ Cup.
No less than eight of those 12 starts were top threes – and three of those are in the last three editions of this tournament.
Fuelled by his great form, he can finally land the trophy this week.

Harris English each-way
The winner of January’s Farmers Insurance Open played brilliantly from tee-to-green through 54 holes in last week’s PGA Championship and when his putter warmed up he thrashed a superb final round 65 to grab a share of second.
It was his fifth top 20 in six starts and he has a fine record at Colonial.
He was fifth on debut in 2015, second in 2016, and, in all, has six top 20 finishes in nine starts.

Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti likes a fast start on a Thursday.
In 2025 alone he has carded five first round 65s.
One of those was in the Houston Open which earned him a share of the early lead and he added another 65 on Saturday.
That’s worth taking into account because the course, Memorial Park, was, like Colonial, designed by John Bredumus.
He made his tournament debut last year and impressed when finishing 17th which included three sub-70 efforts.
