Alabama is facing very high expectations in Year 2 under Kalen DeBoer.
The Crimson Tide are one of just three SEC teams who have a regular-season win total of 9.5 following spring football. Georgia and Texas, who played for last year’s SEC Championship, are the other 2 programs on that pedestal.
The Tide went 9-3 during the regular season a year ago, dropping games to Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma. Despite the struggles late in the year, ESPN’s Greg McElroy believes DeBoer and Alabama can deliver improved results in 2025. McElroy broke down Alabama’s schedule and regular-season win total on the latest episode of the Always College Football Podcast.
“The home schedule I think it pretty manageable,” McElroy said. “You have Wisconsin, Vandy, Tennessee, LSU, Oklahoma and Eastern Illinois. Those are games that can all be won by the Tide. Now the road schedule, very tricky. I think Missouri is a big question mark. I think South Carolina is a big question mark. And frankly, I think Auburn is a huge question mark as well knowing that they’ve improved in so many areas this past season and addressing concerns from the previous year.”
In the end, McElroy is siding with the ‘over’ 9.5 wins for Alabama.
“I think if I had to pick, I think I’d take Bama on the over this year,” McElroy said. “I like what they have back. I like the continuity. I think you might, you might be getting in on an underrated Alabama team going into the season which is rare. That’s seldom the case for the Crimson Tide.”
