A controversial new Sprite flavor is officially heading to stores.
On Monday, the fan-favorite soda company confirmed Sprite + Tea, the flavor that caused a viral commotion when it was just a rumor last fall, is real and releasing just in time for all your summer picnics, roadtrips and barbecues.
The limited-edition flavor "perfectly balances the iconic cut-through lemon-lime refreshment of Sprite with the familiar aroma & flavor of tea," according to an official description.

Parade was lucky enough to get a first taste and the tea flavor comes through subtly not to overpower the beloved soda flavor, almost like a sparkling Fuze for those familiar with the bottled tea. In all honesty, we're looking forward to stocking up on the Zero Sugar variety this season (to clarify, we only flavor tested the regular Sprite + Tea, not Sprite + Tea Zero Sugar).
Sprite + Tea Zero Sugar coming to stores for a limited time in 12-ounce cans. Both the regular and sugar-free Sprite + Tea varieties are expected to be on shelves in 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans at retailers that regularly stock the soft drink brand in the coming weeks, if not already. So far we've found online listings for the products via Walmart and Target as well as Amazon, while eagle-eyed shoppers said they've spotted the new Sprite at their local supermarkets, including Kroger and Stop & Shop chains.
