“Too many moments where KKR didn’t click” – Aaron Finch unimpressed after Rahane’s team crashes out

Even without playing on Saturday, defending champions KKR were ousted from the IPL 2025. The team has only won five matches so far, after playing 13 and are stranded on 12 points only. All that happened after their match vs RCB in Bengaluru was washed out due to incessant rain.

Former Australia skipper Aaron Finch is of the opinion that KKR themselves were to blame for this outcome, for the mistakes they made early on in the tournament. “It didn’t start well for them. Andre Russell, being the match-winner that he is and has been for such a long time, was batting too far down the order for much of the tournament. He simply wasn’t given the opportunities to influence games the way he can. They’ve only got themselves to blame,” Finch said on JioHotstar.

Finch further added, that the team dug their own grave after they lost the May 7 match vs CSK, despite being in a winning position for a long time. “They almost kicked themselves after that last game against CSK – it was theirs to win. The match was almost wrapped up, and they still couldn’t cross the line, which turned out to be an incredible win for Chennai. Throughout the season, there were too many moments where KKR just didn’t click,” Finch added.

Having said that, they still have one more match to go in the season, vs SRH on May 25, and would like to sign off with a victory there. That could alleviate them to fifth position, if DC don’t end up winning their match on Sunday.
