Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar inaugurated the boardroom named in his honor at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. The former Indian skipper spoke about key moments from his career, including the disappointment of the 2007 World Cup and lifting the trophy at the Wankhede Stadium in 2011.
Sachin Tendulkar is considered one of the greatest batters in the history of the game. He made his debut for India at just 16 years old and went on to become the leading run-getter in both Test and One-Day International cricket. The right-handed batter smashed 100 international centuries across formats.
Earlier this month, Sachin Tendulkar inaugurated a boardroom named "SRT 100" at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. BCCI officials, including President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajeev Shukla, Secretary Devajit Saikia, and Joint Secretary Rohan Jaitley, attended the event.
“Bang opposite the Cricket Club of India, a small room was there, and I still remember visiting that place, which was the BCCI office back in 1989, when I went on my first tour of Pakistan. From there to this place, it’s a remarkable transformation," Tendulkar said while speaking at the get-together.
“What makes the place even more special is these priceless trophies. It’s a reflection of what the office bearers of the BCCI and the players have been able to plan and execute in helping the country to achieve this. So these are priceless moments," Tendulkar added, while looking at the ICC trophies that India have won.

I Remember Having a Conversation With My Brother - Sachin Tendulkar
Tendulkar said it was a difficult period following India’s early exit from the 2007 World Cup, adding that he even considered retiring from the game. He recalled an emotional conversation with his brother, who urged him to continue with the vision of lifting the World Cup on home soil in 2011.
"2007 when we got back from the West Indies, number of thoughts came to me. Whether it was time to continue or move aside. I remember having a conversation with my brother," said Tendulkar while pointing at the World Cup trophy.
"My brother said, 'In 2011, the World Cup will be played in India and the final will be in Mumbai at Wankhede Stadium. With this trophy, can you imagine yourself taking a victory lap.' That's where the journey began again. For those four years, there was only one goal. This trophy," he added.
Sachin Tendulkar Played His Final Test Match in 2013
Tendulkar made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1989 at the iconic Old Trafford in Manchester. The right-handed batter played 200 Test matches, amassing a record 15,921 runs at an extraordinary average of 53.78.
Tendulkar also dominated One Day Internationals, scoring over 18,000 runs. He was the first cricketer to score 100 international centuries, a record yet to be broken.
The former cricketer played his final Test match in 2013 against the West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where he was given a heartfelt farewell by fans and teammates alike. He was also part of India’s ODI World Cup-winning squad in 2011.
