Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has dubbed the intense rivalry between CSK and RCB fans as unsavory. The two franchises enjoy the maximum fan following among all other IPL teams. However, over the years, both CSK and RCB fans have taken their rivalry to new heights, including heckling each other outside stadiums and even going to the extent of mocking each other in a never-seen-before fashion.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Uthappa noted that there was an instance in Bengaluru when he saw fans mocking the CSK team as they were leaving the stadium. He recounted another instance where a RCB and CSK fan – both from Bengaluru – were involved in a physical altercation outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
“It was pretty intense. Outside the stadium, they were mocking the players of the team when the bus was leaving the stadium. That was one thing I saw which was in bad taste. The other one I saw were fans fighting with each other – a CSK fan and an RCB fan, both locals from Bengaluru – fighting with each other. I saw women being heckled, which felt unsavoury,” Uthappa said.
RCB – CSK fans going too far. Passionate fans fuel cricket, but some go too far, fighting, mocking players, heckling others. Seen it with many teams, same last year.Watch the full video here: t.co/CeVyVnfUnN pic.twitter.com/eW3Ci6ENGM
— Robbie Uthappa (@robbieuthappa) May 17, 2025On May 3, when CSK were in Bengaluru to take on RCB, the latter’s fans took the rivalry to the next level. They were spotted selling T-shirts that looked like a jail costume, with the years when CSK were banned etched on the front along with Dhoni’s name. Uthappa addressed the issue, admitting that the fan war had gotten pretty intense.
“It’s gotten pretty intense. They’re holding up jerseys, white T-shirts marked with black lines on it stating that for two years CSK were banned. And they kind of had written MS’ number on it and Thala under it, depicting that they were banned for two years and were in Jail. It is getting a little intense and beyond sport, which concerns me,” he added.
