DIA on ground stop, delaying hundreds of flights due to weather

All flights at Denver International Airport are grounded because of thunderstorms sweeping across the Front Range, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The ground stop at DIA started at 4 p.m. and is set to last until 5:30 p.m., the FAA said on its website. Arriving flights are delayed by an average of 30 minutes.

More than 300 flights are delayed or canceled because of the storms, according to the flight tracking website Flight Aware.

The storms are expected to bring nickel- to pea-sized hail and 50- to 60-mph gusts to Denver metro and Eastern Plains communities, National Weather Service forecasters said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
