KROGER has officially eliminated a convenient and popular shopping service similar to one offered by rival grocer Walmart.
Following Kroger’s decision to axe its Ship service, some customers are being forced to switch their go-to grocery store entirely.
The supermarket chain and retailer has halted operations for its Kroger Ship offering, a direct-to-consumer service that provided customers groceries and other products from third-party merchants.
Kroger Ship is similar to Walmart’s shipping service, which delivers orders quickly to customers’ doors via carriers such as FedEx and UPS.
Kroger discontinued the online grocery delivery option in March, the company shared on its website.
Under the Ship FAQs page, shoppers are being met with a message reading: “As of March 2025, Kroger is no longer selling third party items via Ship to Home.”
Although Kroger has not revealed why it stopped the service, the chain noted that customers are still able to order groceries via its delivery and pickup offerings.
The move has already sparked backlash from Kroger fans.

George used Kroger Ship to order products from the chain’s hub in Jacksonville, but will be forced to switch grocers due to the removal of the service.
The customer shared a screenshot of her recent Kroger Ship orders in a Facebook post from late last month, revealing that she had spent over $600 in April on multiple orders.
However, when attempting to use the convenient service recently, George was met with a message on Kroger’s app informing her that Kroger delivery was no longer available.
“I’m so going to miss Kroger!” cried the customer. “It was good while it lasted! Idk how they say they didn’t have enough interest to stay delivering.
“There are so many changes they could’ve made instead of cancelling it all together.”
The U.S. Sun reached out to Kroger for comment but did not immediately hear back.
SHIP SHIFTS
Kroger rolled out its Kroger Ship in 2018, expanding the service in 2020 in response to skyrocketing demand for delivery services brought on by the pandemic.

Shoppers can pay $6.95 for delivery within two hours.
Those who need something quicker can get items in as little as 30 minutes.
Orders must be a minimum of $10 to get quicker delivery.
Customers can save $15 on their first delivery order of $75 or more
The grocer updated the offering to include a variety of goods from third-party merchants such as homeware, toys, seasonal merchandise, and specialty grocery items.
The Kroger Ship platform featured more than 50,000 items at its peak in 2020.
Two years later, the retailer made an effort to revitalize Kroger Ship by selling items such as bedding, storage products, and baby furniture through its partnership with Bed Bath & Beyond and Buybuy Baby.
However, ship-to-home services have seen a major decline following the pandemic, which led to a rise in options for same-day delivery or curbside pickup of fresh groceries.
While ship-to-home services accounted for over 40% of online grocery sales prior to the pandemic, it has since dropped to 19%, per data from Brick Meets Click and Mercatus.
The move to stop Kroger Ship took place around the same time that the retailer announced it had created a business unit centered around its digital operations, e-commerce expert Celia Van Wickel noted in a LinkedIn post.
As Kroger axes its Kroger Ship option, other retail giants are rolling out major changes.
For example, Family Dollar has made a major change that could see customers pocket an extra 40% off.
Plus, Costco revealed it is discontinuing a huge perk by quietly updating its website – and fans are mad.
