Gautam Gambhirs dirty hand in Rohit-Kohlis retirements, Bumrah snubbing-Gills captaincy appointment revealed

According to media reports, Gautam Gambhir, wants full control in India's team selection after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from Test cricket. It is noteworthy that Gambhir's influence has increased in Indian cricket ever since he was appointed India's Head Coach.

Gautam Gambhir came up with a proper plan to end the superstar culture in the Indian team. The first move he made was to make domestic cricket compulsory for all the players in the Indian squad.

Gautam Gambhir forced Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play in the Ranji Trophy to get back in form. According to him, whenever a window is open for players to show up in domestic cricket, they should be playing in first-class cricket.

BCCI advised him to build a team for the future with young players. It was also reported that Gambhir wanted to go to England tour with young players and that's why Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement before the tour.

Former Indian player Saba Karim also thinks that now Gambhir is the most important person in the Indian team after Rohit and Kohli exit.

"Gambhir becomes the most important person here. He has to give confidence to the players. The first thing he needs to do is understand the new captain, the vision he has and the brand of cricket he wants the team to play," Karim stated.

"In order to stop a repeat of the home-series defeat against New Zealand and the debacle in Australia, Gambhir has requested the board for full autonomy," the report added.

Shubman Gill can’t challenge Gautam Gambhir

The reports also suggest that Shubman Gill also listens to him and never challenges him, as he is still very young. The only player in the current squad who can encounter Gautam Gambhir’s tactics is Jasprit Bumrah.

After Rohit's retirement, Jasprit Bumrah would be an automatic choice for the captaincy in the red-ball format, as he was the vice-captain in Rohit’s era.

But now Jasprit Bumrah is not in the picture for the captain or vice-captain role in the Indian team. He also led India in three overseas tests. The Indian team management has stated that Jasprit Bumrah can’t lead the side in all Test matches to manage his workload,
