Rory McIlroy returns to one of his favourite venues this week as he looks to claim his sixth major title at the 2025 PGA Championship.
McIlroy completed the career Grand Slam by finally securing Masters glory at Augusta National in mid-April.
Now, the 36-year-old will have a great chance to add another major title to his stunning CV as he headlines the field for the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.
McIlroy has won four times at the Charlotte venue already and will relish teeing it up there again.
Xander Schauffele is the defending champion following his sublime performance at Valhalla Golf Club last year.
However, his victory was somewhat overshadowed by the news of Scottie Scheffler being arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer on the second day of the tournament.
The two-time Masters champion found himself in the back of a police car outside Valhalla and taken to a station, but all charges were later dropped.
A year on, and Scheffler will be eyeing a PGA Championship victory to banish any memories of that dramatic incident.

PGA Championship 2025: Field and tee times
The PGA Championship is contested by a maximum field of 156 players.
There is then a cut after round two, which reduces the numbers to around half.
The full field has been confirmed, and all of the world’s best will be competing, barring any injuries.
McIlroy, Schauffele and Scheffler headline the action, and they have been grouped together for the first two rounds – they will tee off on Thursday at 8:22am local time, which is 1:22pm in the UK.
Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler, and Shane Lowry make up another strong group along with Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed, and Ludvig Åberg.
You can find all groups and tee times for Rounds 1 and 2 here.
Several LIV Golf stars are also teeing it up, including Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith.
Past winners of the PGA Championship are exempt for life, meaning the likes of Padraig Harrington, Jason Dufner, Shaun Micheel, Vijay Singh, and Martin Kaymer will be in action.
Tiger Woods, who has won this major four times, will not be in action as he continues his recovery from Achilles surgery.
The PGA Championship differs from the other four majors in the fact that no amateur players compete and instead, the tournament includes 20 PGA Professionals.
Michael Block, who made a hole-in-one alongside McIlroy in the 2023 PGA Championship, has qualified again this year.
The PGA of America has also handed out a large number of special invites to the likes of Joaquin Niemann, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed.

PGA Championship 2025: The Course
The course at Quail Hollow Club, designed by George Cobb in 1959, measures 7,626 yards and is a par 71.
This will be the second time the venue has hosted the PGA Championship, having also done so in 2017 when Justin Thomas claimed glory.
It is mainly known for hosting the Wells Fargo Championship (renamed to the Truist Championship in 2025) each year, and it has done so since 2003.
It is famed for ‘The Green Mile’, which consists of holes 16, 17 and 18.
This is widely considered to be one of the most difficult stretches in golf after hole 16 was modified and moved to the edge of a lake.
At 17, there is a pond that makes landing the ball on the green extremely tricky while 18 is known to be one of the toughest endings in golf.
McIlroy will return to Quail Hollow as a Grand Slam championGettyPGA Championship 2025: What has been said?
Schauffele won his first major title at Valhalla last May before going on to clinch Open glory at Royal Troon later in the summer.
He had the tag of the ‘nearly man’ before his PGA Championship win.
And speaking about that ahead of this year’s event, he said: “It was going to be that conversation until – if I didn’t win one ever, it would have been that conversation that would have haunted me until I was done playing, probably.
“That’s just how the game goes.
“Luckily I was able to rattle that one off, my first one at Valhalla, the PGA, which was awesome.
“Yeah, I feel similar. I feel like I’ve done it before.
“But at the same time, I feel I’m still trying to prove myself as well. I don’t look at it too different or feel too different as a whole.”
talkSPORT BET have boosted Rory McIlroy to win the USPGA Championship to 5/1 (was 9/2)
