Fans Defend Taylor Swift After Drunk Karaoke Video Draws Criticism

Taylor Swift fans are shutting down her haters after a video that many are presuming took place during a "drunk karaoke" session surfaced online.

The clip, which is said to have been taken during her annual July 4th party in 2016 (the last time she hosted the fan-favorite event until 2023, when she delighted fans with a belated snapshot of "your local neighborhood independent girlies"), took on Dolly Parton's beloved "I Will Always Love You," as made famous by the late Whitney Houston.

In the video, the “Karma” songstress stood on a makeshift stage in a dimly lit room alongside Ed Sheeran, who played the guitar for the occasion.

She appeared to have a drink in her hand, while the nearby table holding some of the audio equipment

The two belted out the iconic chorus as her guests looked on from the rest of the room, many of them singing along with their hands in the air, and, seeing as the snippet was only seconds long, Swifties immediately demanded, "WE NEED THE FULL VIDEO."

    "oh tayvocalist," another quipped.

Some who reposted the video for themselves even heard a bit of Houston in her vocals, with one declaring, "Oh Whitney's spirit possessed her on that one note," and another questioning, "wait why did whitney’s spirit possess her here a little omg."
