TROY Aikman has made a major announcement regarding his family.
The NFL Hall of Famer is getting legal assistance from his own blood.
While Aikman is a legendary quarterback, not everyone in his family chose to pursue a career in sports.
In fact, his nephew, Reid Powell, studied at the University of Oklahoma to become a lawyer.
He officially graduated and shared the news in a post captioned “Reid Bailey Powell, J.D.”
Aikman was so proud of his nephew that he actually was able to get an announcement out before him.
“Couldn’t be more proud of my nephew Reid for graduating from OU Law,” he wrote on his Instagram Story.
“We finally have a lawyer in the family—which means I might actually start saving money on legal fees.
“Congrats, counselor!”
It is perfect timing for Aikman to add a lawyer to the family, as he is in the midst of a legal battle.
Aikman is fighting with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson for use of a trademark.
Jackson owns multiple trademarks on phrases like Era 8, You 8 Yet?, and Era 8 by Lamar Jackson.
However, there is one more trademark that he is trying to get his hands on.
That’s where Aikman comes in, as his company FL101 attempted to trademark the word EIGHT for products like apparel, bags, and beer.
The company ran into trouble though when Jackson’s attorney’s filed an appeal against the trademark.
Aikman kept things lighthearted at the time by responding to Jackson’s appeal with a tweet.
“Hey Lamar – looks like a worthy conversation over a couple cold EIGHT beers!” Aikman wrote.

Despite the lightheartedness, Jackson’s team isn’t budging. They say the use of Eight could create a false association between Aikman and Jackson.
Aikman’s company already owns nine trademarks regarding the phrase EIGHT, but Jackson only want to challenge its use for bags and apparel.
Neither legal team has budged yet and the case is ongoing.
This is now the second athlete Jackson has gone to war against, as he previously challenged Dal Earnhardt Jr’s use of the number 8 as well.
