A SHOPPER at Walmart has slammed the store’s checkout policy after finding all self-checkouts closed and long lines at just two open lanes.
The man abandoned his cart in frustration and voiced his complaint on social media.
The shopper wrote on X: “How is it 9pm and Walmart has all self checkout closed and two lanes open…
“With 25 people standing in line…
“I left the whole cart of good right in there and left. Ridiculous.”
It is unclear at which Walmart location the shopper had the unpleasant experience.
It comes as another shopper recently claimed they were ignored by staff after calling nine times about an issue with an order.
They wrote on X: “@Walmart I’ve called your customer service number over issues with an order no less than nine times in four weeks.
“Each time I’m given a solution that never materializes.
“Today I’ve called twice and been hung up on even by the so called manager.
“Mind you I’ve been calm and respectful so WTF is going on!”
The retail giant replied to the unhappy customer to apologize and offer their support.
The retailer’s account wrote: “Oh no, that’s not what we like to see!
“Can you please send us a DM with additional details, so we can look into this?”
It is unclear whether the issue has been resolved.
Meanwhile, Walmart’s lack of staff members on shift has sparked mass frustration, with many customers voicing their complaints on social media.
One disgruntled social media user recently wrote: “@Walmart want to make sure I’ve got this.
“You closed the whole section of Scan & Go after 7:30, then close 1/2 of the registers in the other one you have open.
“All while having no express lane and 1 real cashier.
“I’m waiting in line with 3 items. I need to rethink where I shop.”
Walmart responded with: “Let’s hear more about your experience.
“Would you mind sending a DM, so we can take a closer look at these issues?”
It is unclear what came of this exchange.
Walmart has come under fire for its checkout systemgettyWhat is Walmart's Scan and Go?
Walmart's Scan and Go was made to save time for shoppers
Walmart’s Scan and Go system was created to help customers scan items as they shop, pay, and leave without waiting in long checkout lines.
The retailer describes the new system to be done in a few easy steps:
Customers first need to have the Walmart app downloaded on their phones with their location access enabled. On the Store Mode landing page, shoppers must click the Scan and Go option. Customers can scan each item and place them in their carts as they shop. At the end, they’ll be prompted to view the cart to make sure the quantity on the app matches the ones in their carts. Shoppers will press “Check Out” and head to a self-checkout kiosk. They’ll be prompted to scan the provided QR code at the register and confirm their payment method. Once the transaction is complete, shoppers can leave the store without worry. Read More Details
