Forgotten Steph Curry teammate looks unrecognizable at 28 as he rips jersey in anger on debut in Italy

Eric Paschall might not be a household name to many NBA fans.

A second-round pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the big man carved out a career that spanned three seasons in the top league.

The first two came with the Golden State Warriors, where he played alongside one of basketball’s top stars, Stephen Curry.

A 6ft 6ins power forward, Paschall joined the Warriors as the 41st overall draft choice.

He arrived with legitimate promise having won the National Championship as a member of the Villanova Wildcats in 2018.

But things didn’t quite go to plan and after two years with Golden State, Paschall departed for the Utah Jazz.

His lasted just one season in Salt Lake City, where he started three games, before dropping out of the NBA.

In March 2023, Paschall moved to Puerto Rico, and signed with Leones de Ponce of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional before being released one month later.

The former Warrior spent more than a year out of the game, and eventually joined Pistoia Basket 2000 in Italy’s Lega Basket Serie A last August.

However, Paschall’s Italian league debut caught the eye for all the wrong reasons.

In the opener against Napoli, the former NBA player appeared out of shape and his desire to make an immediate impact didn’t help too much.

He finished the game, which his team won, going 0/6 from the field and looked almost unrecognizable from his days playing alongside Curry in San Francisco.

According to Basket News, Paschall also committed three turnovers in 19 minutes before fouling out.

When he was called for his 4th personal foul, he lashed out at the referees, and was sent to the bench as he received a technical foul in response to his protests.

Paschall vented his anger by ripping off his shirt as he left the court.

“The start to my Italy journey!” he posted on social media afterwards.

“Great win last night but Pistoia fans are by far the best! One of the greatest environments I have ever played in!”

While Pascall, 28, is now hoping to reignite his career in Italy, the agile and offensively gifted rookie was once dubbed a ‘Mini Draymond Green’ upon arriving in the NBA six years ago.

Green himself has recently launched passionate defence of his own behavior the the ‘agenda’ around him.

But rather than fit the mold, Paschall wanted to play his own way on the Warriors.

He averaged 14 points on the way to earning All-Rookie First Team honors in his first season, but the Warriors finished with a league-worst 15-50 record.

Curry, still ranked as one of the greatest NBA players in the world, only played five games due to a hand injury and his partner in crime, Klay Thompson, was still recovering from ACL surgery.

In year two, Paschall remained focused on his individual efforts, but found his time on the court limited.

When Curry returned, the youngster realized how tough it was to play with the two-time MVP, because the system was always centered around him.

Earlier this year, he discussed his ‘Mini Draymond’ nickname and detailed those struggles of playing alongside an NBA legend.

“Y’all can look at me as ‘Mini Draymond.’ I like to score, and mentally at that point, I couldn’t do it,” he told the Entirely NBA podcast in January.

“When I say I couldn’t do it, I was not wired to set a screen, pass up an open shot, if I’m open I’m shooting it.

“I couldn’t play with Steph early in the season, because I’m still thinking, ‘I’m going to do me, y’all saw what I did last year.’

“That’s what I’m thinking, but I can’t do that because I’m on the floor with Steph all the time.

“That year, I ended up asking to come off the bench because I’m not good at doing this with Steph.”
