The rest of the IPL 2025 matches have been suspended due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan on Friday, May 9. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the suspension will last just a week, but the future of the IPL 2025 remains uncertain.
With the things between India and Pakistan worsening, fans may have to wait longer than expected for the IPL 2025 to return. The BCCI is likely to reschedule the remainder of the IPL 2025 in September, when the Asia Cup 2025 was supposed to take place.
Only 16 matches are left, and six teams are still battling for a spot in the IPL 2025 Playoffs, so this break could be a huge blow to the tournament. Well, in a bid to keep the IPL 2025 season alive, former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan has proposed a bold and innovative solution.

Vaughan suggested that the IPL 2025 could be completed in England. With the Indian cricket team already scheduled for a five-match Test series in England from June 20, Vaughan's idea could allow Indian players to seamlessly transition from the Indian Premier League to international duty.
The Indian Premier League has been played outside India in the past, including in South Africa in 2009, the UAE in 2014, and then again in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This time, Vaughan wants BCCI to stage the remainder of the tournament in England, as they have world-class grounds across the country to provide everything the fans and broadcasters need.
I wonder if it's possible to finish IPL in UK: Michael Vaughan
Michael Vaughan posted, X: “I wonder if it's possible to finish the IPL in the UK. We have all the venues, and the Indian players can then stay on for the Test series. Just a thought.”

Notably, England has 20 top-quality international stadiums, and they have hosted tournaments like the NatWest T20 Blast and The Hundred. After India, England is the only country with such a remarkable collection of world-class cricket grounds.

With this infrastructure in place, a collaboration between the BCCI and ECB could easily manage the remaining 16 IPL league matches, the four playoffs, and the final, making it a feasible solution for completing the tournament amid the India-Pakistan war.
JioStar says they will work with BCCI to bring back IPL 2025 at the appropriate time
Meanwhile, IPL broadcaster JioStar has welcomed the BCCI’s decision to suspend the tournament amid the rising tension with Pakistan. JioStar said in a statement, “We, at JioStar, wholeheartedly support the BCCI’s decision to suspend TATA IPL 2025 and stand firmly committed to prioritizing national interest over all other considerations.”
The statement further added, “At this time, we must stand united with our country, support the government and our armed forces, and extend solidarity & support to the civilians affected. We will work with the BCCI to bring back the tournament at an appropriate time. JioStar will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the transition is managed in a seamless manner and everyone involved in the tournament broadcast returns home safely.”
