Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police have ramped up security in Puri, placing the Jagannath Temple and the city under an unprecedented security blanket due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The Srimandir, a major pilgrimage site drawing millions annually, is now guarded by armed police personnel stationed strategically around the temple, identified as a high-risk target.
As per reports, the National Security Guard (NSG) conducted a detailed security inspection at the temple, focusing on anti-terror protocols and crowd management ahead of the Rath Yatra festival on June 27.
Approximately 240 police personnel have been deployed in and around the temple to ensure safety.
Security measures include rigorous checks of identification documents for hotel and lodge guests, thorough searches for potential threats, and increased police patrols across Puri.
