Luke Littler made a crying gesture to heckling Leeds fans during his Premier League win over Nathan Aspinall.
‘The Nuke’ was back in action as he looked to continue his dominant campaign on night 14 of the Premier League.
He took on mentor and friend Aspinall in the quarter-final on a stage where he wasn’t warmly received.
Littler is an avid Manchester United fan – a rival of local club Leeds United where the matches were being held.
And he was booed into the arena upon arrival and was heckled up on stage.
During his throw, Littler was taunted by fans, while the passionate crowd roared on and chanting for underdog Aspinall.
The pair were struggling in the eighth leg with ‘The Asp’ ahead in a narrow 4-3 lead.
But it was double trouble as the pair struggled to get it over the line, to the jeers of the crowd.
Littler finally took out a double ten, a relief as he clawed the match back to 4-4.
After doing so, he hilariously trolled them by doing a crybaby gesture to the heckling fans.
It luckily didn’t backfire as he went on to win the match 6-4 to progress through to the semi-finals.
The 18-year-old did well to compose himself and showed his personality during some back and forths with the raucous spectators.
Littler had fun up on stage as he beat Aspinall in the quarter finalsPDCAnd his dominant streak continued as he edged past Aspinall yet again, who has always had struggles against ‘The Nuke’.
It is a big night for Littler, who was looking to edge one nightly win closer to the record points tally.
Littler was on 35 points going into the night, and was searching to extend his lead over Luke Humphries who sat in the second.
He said before a dart was thrown: “It just depends on how the fans react.
“But the things in Newcastle, and Liverpool. I’ll always give it back to them.”
“I just want to relax these next few weeks. I don’t have to perform to any high standards. I’m just cruising into the O2.”
Littler’s run continued and he is showing no sign of letting upPDC“We’ll have to see. I think last year I secured top spot with quite a few weeks left to play.
“Right now, I’ve not secured it mathematically. I’ve done it last year, why can’t I do it again.
“The points record as well, that can be broken, but most importantly these next few weeks I’m just gonna relax and see where the darts land.”
The teenage prodigy is having a fantastic year on the PDC tour.
He became the youngest ever world champion in January, and has shown real promise ever since.
Littler will hope to defend his crown comfortably with the play-offs in sight in London on May 29.
