POLICE REPORTS
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.
RAPE: Caller in the 700 block of South Oak Street reported at 9:46 p.m. May 3 that a rape had occurred. An officer took a report. When asked for more details, UPD personnel said that the incident is still under investigation, including in which jurisdiction it may have occurred.
DUI: An officer responded to a report of a traffic collision at the corner of East Gobbi and Leslie streets at 2:07 a.m. May 4 and arrested Adriel Hernandez, 22, of Hopland, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, violating his probation, driving on a license suspended or revoked for DUI and domestic battery. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail.
DEATH: An officer responded to the 300 block of North Main Street at 12:54 p.m. May 4 and took a report of a death.
TRESPASS: Caller at CVS on South Orchard Avenue reported at 8:06 p.m. May 4 that an unwanted person was in the business. The person left before the officer arrived. At 9:54p.m., a caller at the business again reported an unwanted person, who again left before the officer arrived.
MAN STARTING FIRE: A 911 call reporting that a man was possibly starting a fire in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Airport Park Boulevard was placed, then hung up, at 9:32 p.m. May 4. An officer took a report.
ASSAULT: Caller in the 400 block of East Perkins Street reported at 8:24 a.m. May 5 that someone had been punched. An officer responded and arrested Joshua D. Winn, 40, of Redwood Valley, on suspicion of domestic violence and providing a false report of a crime. He was booked into county jail.
VEHICLE EGGED: Caller at the corner of West Clay and South Hope streets reported at 1:21 p.m. May 5 that a vehicle had been egged. An officer responded and reported that there had been no damage to the vehicle.
HIT AND RUN: Caller near CVS on South Orchard Avenue reported at 3:53 p.m. May 5 that a driver hit two parked cars and walked away. An officer responded and reported that the involved parties had exchanged information.
PACKAGE THEFT: Caller in the 300 block of North Spring Street reported at 5:26 p.m. May 5 that a man took a package off their porch. An officer responded and reported that the package was located and follow-up would be conducted.
HIT AND RUN: Caller in the 700 block of South State Street reported at 1:03 p.m. May 6 that a hit and run occurred. An officer responded and arrested Michael C. Mendez, 32, of Ukiah, on suspicion of hit and run and violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.
Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
