Chris Stapleton fans have much to celebrate today as the country superstar was met with historic honors as he announced a "first-of-a-kind collaboration."
On Thursday, Major League Baseball (MLB) announced Traveller Blended Whiskey, which was co-created by the 11-time Grammy winner and Buffalo Trace Distillery's master distiller Harlen Wheatley, as "the Official Whiskey" of the game.
This marks the first time the MLB has ever designated an official whiskey, and as for why it chose to form a new multi-year agreement with Traveller Blended, it might have something to do with it being "the Most Awarded Super Premium Whiskey release of 2024."
Traveller Whiskey is the First Official Whiskey of Major League Baseball."Harlen, Chris and the Buffalo Trace team have created this standout brand in a very competitive, popular space, and we're excited to work with them," said MLB CMO & SVP of global corporate partnerships, Uzma Rawn Dowler, in a May 8 statement. "Between record levels of MLB fan engagement, All-Star Week in Atlanta and the Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway, this is a great year for Traveller and MLB to start working together."
Regardless of the real reason, it's ultra-special for the musician and his wife, Morgane.
"Whenever we're on the road and it happens to line up, we go to baseball games," Stapleton added. "It's become a bit of a tradition over the years. We love to experience all the different ballparks and enjoy the culture of whatever baseball town we happen to be in. My wife and I even went to Game Six of the World Series once on our anniversary."
"Needless to say, I'm thrilled Traveller Whiskey is going to be the Official Whiskey of MLB," he gushed.
As for what fans can expect from the new partnership, Traveller Blended Whiskey ads are headed to social media and engaging fan activations, sweepstakes and giveaways are en route, per the release.
