THE CLEVELAND BROWNS have set NFL prospect Shedeur Sanders up to “fail” after the Draft.
That is according to new Fox Sports college analyst and former football star Robert Griffin III.
Sanders, 23, stood out in college football as he played a star role with the Colorado Buffaloes last season.
A number of NFL franchises found themselves embroiled in an intense bidding war for the quarterback’s signature.
The ex-Jackson State star looked like a shoo-in No1 pick, but instead ended up taking part in one of the most shocking draft slides in recent memory.
Sanders didn’t hear his name until the final day of the event when he was finally picked by the Browns.
And Griffin is not confident about the college star’s move to Cleveland.
In act, the former Heisman trophy winner believes the existence of so many other quarterbacks within Kevin Stefanski’s squad will work against Sanders.
That includes Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and the injured Deshaun Watson, who could miss the entire season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Griffin said on Twitter: “They have $230million that won’t play [Watson].
“Brought in 4 QBs this offseason and the last one they brought in, Shedeur Sanders, is the No1 selling jersey of all rookies despite being drafted in the 5th round after their 3rd round pick Dillon Gabriel.
“Shedeur Sanders is in a situation where the NFL and the Cleveland Browns have set him up to sink or swim in year one.
“What I really mean by that is, they set him up to fail.
“Shedeur is the headliner of the group. He sells tickets. He sells jerseys.
“He sells confidence to his teammates who have said they can’t wait to play with him and non-teammates.
“The Cleveland Browns headliner is their 4th QB on the roster who will get the least amount of reps and opportunity in the group.”
