POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.

DEATH: An officer responded to the 1000 block of Crystal Bay Court at 1:07 a.m. May 1 and took a report of a death.

    TAKING GARBAGE CANS: Caller in the 900 block of North Oak Street reported at 6:25 a.m. May 1 that someone was taking garbage cans. An officer responded and arrested a 54-year-old Ukiah man for petty theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Mendocino County jail.

    THEFT: Caller in the 100 block of North Orchard Avenue reported a theft at 9:15 a.m. May 1. An officer responded and reported that her phone was found in her cart.

    WELFARE CHECK: Caller in the 1300 block of Laurel Avenue requested a welfare check on a senior at 9:35 a.m. May 1. An officer responded and reported that “all checked OK.”

    WELFARE CHECK: Caller in the 300 block of North Pine Street requested a welfare check on a senior at 11:09 a.m. May 1. An officer responded and reported being unable to locate the person, and that the caller would recontact if needed.

    WOMAN SCREAMING: Caller near the Orr Street Bridge reported at 11:49 a.m. May 1 hearing a woman screaming., An officer responded and reported that the area “checked OK.”

    ROBBERY: Caller at 1:25 p.m. May 1 made a “late report of a robbery” at the corner of Norton and East Perkins streets. An officer took a case report.

    WELFARE CHECK: Caller in the 900 block of Mazzoni Street requested at 3:59 p.m. May 1 that the welfare of a dog be checked on. An officer responded and reported that the dog was fine.

    DRUG POSSESSION: An officer contacted a person behaving suspiciously at the corner of Orr and Brush streets at 7:44 p.m. May 1 and arrested a woman, no age or city of residence provided, on suspicion of possessing both a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. She was cited and released.

    WOMAN YELLING: Caller in the 800 block of South State Street requested at 11:14 p.m. May 1 a welfare check on a woman yelling. An officer responded and reported that the woman was transported to the hospital by medical personnel.

    DRUG POSSESSION: An officer approached a suspicious vehicle near Oak Manor Park at 2:10 a.m. May 2 and arrested a 35-year-old Ukiah man for illegal possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance, obstruction/resisting and remaining in a park after posted hours. He was booked into county jail.

    PAROLE VIOLATION: An officer responded to the Building Bridges community center and homeless shelter at 2:33 a.m. May 2 to assist with the arrest of Angel Miller, 36, of Ukiah, on suspicion of violating his parole.

    TRESPASS AT LIBRARY: Caller at the Ukiah branch of the Mendocino County Library reported at 10:15 a.m. May 2 that an unwanted person was there. An officer responded and reported that the person “moved along.”

    HIT AND RUN: A caller in the 500 block of South State Street reported at 3:23 p.m. May 2 that a hit and run had occurred. An officer responded and arrested Jose Leyva Zazueta, 20, of Ukiah, on suspicion of violating his probation and possessing a controlled substance. He was booked into county jail.

    DUI: An officer contacted the occupants of a suspicious vehicle in the 600 block of Leslie Street at 10:58 p.m. May 2 and arrested a 17-year-old juvenile on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment.

    HIT AND RUN: A caller at the corner of South State Street and Talmage Road reported at 3:29 p.m. May 3 that a hit and run had occurred. An officer responded and took a case report. At 4:48 p.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of Luce Avenue to arrest a 17-year-old related to the incident and booked them into Mendocino County Juvenile Hall.

    DOOR HIT PARKED CAR: Caller in the 1200 block of Airport Park Boulevard reported at 4:19 p.m. May 3 that a car door had been opened into another parked car. Officer follow-up was assigned.

    Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper.
