On Saturday at 11:11 p.m. an updated high surf advisory was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until Monday, May. 5 at 9 a.m. for Los Angeles County Beaches.
The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA states to prepare for, “Large breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet with dangerous rip currents. Surf highest across northwest and west facing beaches.”
“There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore,” according to the NWS. “Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.”
