SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The San Francisco Police Department said a man armed with a knife inside his car was arrested after leading officers on a pursuit Saturday afternoon.
Motorcyclist critically injured in downtown San Francisco truck crasPolice said officers responded to Lapham Way at 4:27 p.m. for a report of an armed suspect sitting inside a vehicle in front of his home. When officers tried to approach the man, police said he refused to comply and instead drove away from the location.
A chase began after the man failed to yield to officers, and he drove recklessly, striking several police patrol cars and committing multiple traffic violations, police said.
SFPD said the pursuit ended in the area of Naples Street and Geneva Avenue when the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop. Police said the man eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
It is not yet clear what led to the incident. The public is being asked to avoid the area while police investigate.
This remains an open and active case.
