(PINPOINT WEATHER) -- Good Saturday Morning and Welcome to the Weekend!
We are starting warm and humid this morning under a few clouds from overnight storms.
The start of the weekend will bring unsettled weather, with numerous showers and thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. A Pinpoint Weather Alert has been issued for Saturday afternoon and evening due to the threat of strong to severe storms.
The main threats from severe storms will be damaging wind gusts and large hail, along with lightning. If you hear thunder roar, go indoors. If you are headed out to the many outdoor events in Charlotte later today, be sure to keep an eye to the sky.
While flooding will not be a major issue, a few isolated instances of high water can't be ruled out in poor drainage and low-lying spots with any repeated downpours.
Expect temperatures to rise into the upper 70s and lower 80s this afternoon. Lows tonight will fall back into the 60s.
Sunday's weather will be cooler and drier. High temperatures will be in the mid-70s, with only stray shower chances, mainly for the mountains.
Sunday night will be cooler than recent nights, with low temperatures falling into the 50s.
A drier pattern will continue for Monday and Tuesday, with seasonable temperatures in the upper 70s. Conditions will turn a tad more unsettled for mid to late next week, with a few more showers and thunderstorm chances.
