‘You’re going home’ – Steph Curry consoles heartbroken son after Game 6 loss and issues warning to teammates

The Houston Rockets have forced a Game 7 in their first-round playoff series with the Golden State Warriors.

A 115-107 Game 6 defeat on Friday night left the Warriors devastated — and nobody felt it more than Steph Curry‘s son Canon, who had to be consoled by his father.

Footage shows Curry walking towards the six-year-old in the stands.

Canon buried his head into mom Ayesha’s chest and refused to talk to his dad.

Curry, who had just played 42 minutes and scored 29 points, waited for his son to turn around and talk to him but once he did, he quickly looked away from him and got emotional again.

You can forgive the young man for his reaction especially when considering the manner in which the Warriors lost the game.

Golden State entered the fourth quarter just two points behind and many expected them to close out the series at home.

However, the Rockets embarked on a 6-0 run sparked by Fred VanVleet, who made a three-pointer while getting fouled to bank a four-point play.

“We started off the fourth quarter with a two-point game and we gave up a four-point play,” Warriors forward Draymond Green said.

“It’s just like, you lose the life, you know?”

It ended up being VanVleet’s night as he scored 29 points to go with eight assists — his third consecutive game with 25 points or more.

“Now, as I get a little older, [I’ve been] able to play in enough of these games to realize that a calm, steady mind is the best path forward,” he said.

“Not getting too high or too low, not getting too carried away, trusting the work, your teammates and things usually work out in the big picture.”

It didn’t help that the Warriors missed 14 of their opening 15 shots in the final quarter as the side seemed to collapse in front of their fans.

However, Curry is already looking forward to Game 7. The 36-year-old averages 32.6 points in deciders and issued a clear warning to his teammates about the stakes.

“If you don’t play a game, you’re your best game, or you don’t figure out a way to win, you’re going home,” Curry said.

“There’s no better feeling of, you know, closing out a series, you know, with You know just the whole Game 7 vibe.

“It’s what this league is about, and you know it’s a great opportunity to Show up when it matters most.”

Jimmy Butler, who put up 27 points, echoed a similar sentiment but went further as he issued a confident prediction

“So we’re going to win together, we’re going to lose together,” Butler said. “I know we’re definitely going to win together come Sunday.

“Things didn’t go our way. OK, we’re going to be ready to compete on Sunday. We’re going to make the game go our way.”

We’ll find out whether Butler is correct on May 5 when the Rockets host the Warriors in a crunch win-or-go-home game for both sides.
