Nebraska Brewing Company, a La Vista, Nebraska-based brewery with over 18 years of history, announced it is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

In a social media post, the brewery reassured its customers.

“This sounds scary, but it doesn’t have to be,” the company said on Facebook.

“We have chosen this route because we believe that there absolutely is a path to success and a way for us to continue making your favorite beers and serving our community.”

The brewery ended the post by stating, “This is not our final chapter, just a new one.”

The owners cited economic and supply chain issues as reasons for the decision.

However, it emphasized that the restructuring will allow the brewery to continue normal taproom hours and regular distribution.

Customers can still find their beers in grocery stores and local bars as the business reorganizes.

    FAN REACTIONS

Fans of the brewery reacted to news of the company’s restructuring, with hundreds showing support on Facebook.

“You guys are family and we are pulling for you all!” one fan wrote.

“The stuff that is worth it isn’t always easy, you all have the grace to navigate this,” said another.

“You are good people that have built a community of supporters. And you also make really good beer!”

“You have been so generous to the community and [Nebraska Brewing Company] is our favorite watering hole,” another wrote.

“Owning a business is not for the faint hearted. Wishing you the best.”

    TROUBLE BREWING

Nebraska Brewing Company’s closure follows a trend seen across the craft beer industry.

Recently, numerous breweries have struggled with an oversaturated market.

North Carolina-based Brüeprint Brewing Company recently filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, signaling the complete closure of its operations.

Founded in 2014, the brewery had a loyal following in North Carolina, with several restaurants and retailers offering its beers on tap and in stores.

In February, Texas-based Alamo Beer Company also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing low demand as it operated at only 20% capacity.

Even larger beer producers are feeling the pinch, as Molson Coors closed a popular brewery in 2024.

This trend comes amid broader challenges in the alcohol industry, with inflation and changing consumer habits affecting sales.
