Miesha Tate believes Ronda Rousey ‘should have to go through’ her first if she makes a UFC return.
Rosey hasn’t fought in MMA since 2016, where she was famously obliterated by Amanda Nunes in her final UFC fight.
She then signed with billionaire wrestling promotion the WWE and fought there until 2023 before leaving combat sports entirely for family reasons.
Tate, 38, has fought ‘Rowdy’ twice in her 17-year pro career, and assessed stepping back into the Octagon with the UFC legend ahead of her own return to action on Saturday.
“Oh yeah, absolutely,” Tater told Sportsnet when asked if she would ‘welcome’ Rousey back to the UFC.
“I don’t know if it’s appropriate to call her out after my fight, but we’ll see what happens… sounds like a great plan B.”
Tate is the No. 12 ranked women’s bantamweight in Dana White’s promotion and faces No. 10 Yana Santos at UFC Des Moines this weekend.
She submitted Holly Holm in March 2016 to secure UFC gold for the first time, having challenged Rousey in her inaugural title bout in the promotion three years prior.
“I know [Rousey has] been training and whatnot, but the only way I think Ronda comes back is if she really wants to,” Tate added.
“There’s no other reason for her to come back otherwise. Maybe she might’ve thought about it if it was a less devastating striker, like Kayla [Harrison].
“Maybe she’d dabble with that idea, but I doubt she’d want to fight Amanda again. I don’t know what the rules are with Ronda, because they don’t seem to apply.
“Could she just come back and get an immediate title shot? That would be crazy, but I think she should have to go through me first if she does decide to come back.”

Fans were extremely excited, begging for a comeback again, with one saying: “Go on Ronda, if you can do this you can fight again!”
Rousey was dominated by Brazilian star Nunes after 48 seconds at UFC 207 in December 2016 on her return to the sport after over a year away.
The defeat came 13 months after she was shockingly stopped by Holm at UFC 193, which prompted ‘Rowdy’ to take some time out of MMA.
However, Rousey’s impact on the women’s MMA scene transcends those back-to-back defeats.
She was the first-ever UFC women’s champion, holding the bantamweight title from 2012 to 2015.

Tate, meanwhile, boast a pro MMA record of 20-9, but hasn’t fought since her third-round submission win over Julia Avila in December 2023.
She has ambitions to challenge for UFC gold once again in her division that is currently ruled by Julianna Pena, who defends her title against Harrison at UFC 316 in July.
