Nigel Farage‘s Reform UK has won the Runcorn and Helsby by-election by just six votes, setting a new record for the smallest majority at a parliamentary by-election since the end of the Second World War.
Labour has secured victory in three mayoral elections, holding on to North Tyneside, Doncaster and West of England, but Reform have won Greater Lincolnshire, a new mayoralty.
Counting is still underway after elections for 23 councils and six mayoralties were held on Thursday.

North Tyneside
Labour won the North Tyneside mayoral contest in the first full result of the night, but Karen Clark had a majority of just 444 over Reform’s John Falkenstein.

Liam Bones (Con) 11,017 (20.51 per cent)
Labour held Doncaster, with Reform coming in second. Labour’s Ros Jones won with a majority of just 698 over Reform candidate Alexander Jones.

Starmer’s Labour party held West of England, with Reform also in second place here.

Dame Andrea Jenkyns was elected for Reform as the first Greater Lincolnshire mayor with a majority of almost 40,000 over the Conservatives.
Council election results
Northumberland County Council has remained under no overall control, with the majority of results in from the only council to count every ward overnight.
With just eight results to go, the Conservatives have 23 seats while Reform have 21. Labour are on eight, the Liberal Democrats two, Green one, and six independents have been elected.
Runcorn and Helsby by-election
Reform’s Sarah Pochin delivered a blow to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Government with her win in the Runcorn and Helsby by-election. Labour previously held the seat before a by-election was triggered when former Labour MP Mike Amesbury quit after admitting to punching a constituent.
