In a jaw-dropping display of power hitting, Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi scripted history in the IPL by smashing a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans.
While the cricket world was stunned and awed by his talent, Vijender Singh made an age fraud accusation.
As the teen sensation was showered with praise from the cricket legends and fans across the world, former Indian boxer and Olympic medallist Vijender Singh stirred a storm on social media by hinting at the possible age fraud in the ongoing IPL 2025.
Without naming names, Vijender dropped a sarcastic bombshell on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that some players may be tweaking their age to break into cricket days after the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed a blistering century against Gujarat Titans.

However, the BJP MP has not mentioned Suryavanshi in his post, but the timing made it hard to ignore who he was hinting at. Vijender Singh posted on X: “Bhai aaj kal umar choti ker ke cricket me bhe khelne lage (Have players started reducing their age in cricket too?).”

After receiving backlash on social media, where the former boxer was reminded of his wrong deeds during his playing days, the Olympic medalist shot back to affirm his thoughts. Vijender said in another post on X: “Sachi kehna sukhi rahna ?? (Speak the truth, live in peace).”

No proof of any wrongdoing by Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Notably, at the age of just 14 years and 32 days old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history by smashing a breathtaking 101 off only 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, thus becoming the youngest-ever player to hit a century in both IPL and T20 cricket.

This was the fastest century ever by an Indian in IPL history. Overall, it was the second-fastest in the league, just behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball hundred against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Well, there is no proof of any wrongdoing by Vaibhav at the moment. However, age fraud—where a player lies about their real age to gain an advantage—has been a problem in Indian cricket and other sports for years. The BCCI has taken strict action in the past, banning players like Rasikh Salam, Manjot Kalra, and Nitish Rana for age-related issues.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi set for Mumbai Indians clash
Vaibhav is all set to be seen in action on Thursday, May 1, when Rajasthan Royals will face Mumbai Indians in the 50th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium. He replaced injured captain Sanju Samson in the squad and made an instant impact to seal a spot in the playing XI.
He was picked for INR 1.1 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Dubai. Earlier, the left-handed batter made headlines by hitting a six on the very first ball of his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants on April 19. His rapid rise in the Indian Premier League has been nothing short of incredible.
