Bet of the Day – Nottingham Forest to beat Brentford @ 11/10

Nottingham Forest have been in contention for a Champions League place for much of the campaign, but they are in a tight end-of-season scrap with Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle and Aston Villa now to finish in the top five.

With just five points separating the five teams between third and seventh, every game during the run-in is vital and Forest will be desperate to bounce back from their FA Cup semi-final defeat against City by seeing off Brentford at home.

Nuno Espirito Santo has done a fantastic job of guiding Forest up to where they currently sit in sixth and victory over the mid-table Bees, which is their game in hand on all their rivals around them, would move them back up to third.

Brentford are unbeaten in their last three outings and are eyeing a top-10 finish under Thomas Frank, but Forest have been impressive at the City Ground for much of the season, winning nine of their 16 home league games so far, and they can pick up another potentially crucial three points on Thursday.

Special of the Day – Athletic Bilbao to win and both teams to score v Manchester United @ 7/2

Manchester United are attempting to save their season by winning the Europa League, but they face a very difficult semi-final against La Liga outfit Athletic Bilbao.

The first leg at the Basque club’s San Mames home – which is also the venue of this year’s final – is expected to be a closely-fought affair, but United could be up against it as the hosts have won all six of their home matches in the competition so far, conceding just two goals along the way.

Ruben Amorim’s side produced a sensational late fightback to beat Lyon in the last eight, winning 5-4 at home after extra-time, but they approach Thursday’s game after another disappointing showing at the weekend, when they drew 1-1 at Bournemouth.

United have scored in all of their Europa League games this season and they can maintain that record, but it might not be enough to prevent them falling to a first-leg defeat.

    Long Shot of the Day – Tottenham v Bodo/Glimt – Draw @ 9/2

Like United, Tottenham are also relying on glory in the Europa League to put a positive spin on a poor season and they will fancy their chances of progressing past Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt over two legs in the semi.

However, Bodo/Glimt have already upset the odds to get past Twente, Olympiacos and Lazio in the knockout stages and they are in fine form ahead of the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having won seven of their last eight games in all competitions.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have lost their last three Premier League matches, but did impress when knocking out Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 on aggregate in the last eight in Europe.

Spurs are the favourites on Thursday, but they cannot underestimate their opponents, who look capable of earning a draw if they replicate the form they have shown throughout this competition so far.

Goals have been a problem for both sides recently, as Leganes have failed to score in their last two outings, while Girona have only managed two goals across their last three matches.
