In a stunning announcement, former Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis revealed he is retiring from the NFL on Wednesday. Travis will turn 25 years old in May.
Fans likely remember Travis as one of the darlings of the 2023 college football season with a star performance for the Seminoles. Through the first 10 games of the season, Travis was a top Heisman contender for an undefeated FSU squad aiming at the College Football Playoff.
Unfortunately, Travis’s season would come to an end in the 11th game of the season with a devastating leg injury. The Seminoles would also be left out of the final Playoff field due to his absence.
The New York Jets would ultimately take a chance on Travis in the 5th round of last year’s draft. However, the quarterback confirmed on Wednesday that he is hanging things up due to his leg never quite responding to rehab the way he had hoped.
On November 18th, 2023, my life and career took an unexpected turn,” wrote Travis. “I gave everything I had to the rehab process, but despite my efforts, my leg never responded the way we hoped. After much prayer and consultation with my doctors and medical team, I have been medically advised to retire from the game I love so deeply.
It is crazy how fast life can change. This is not the ending I had ever imagined, but I do trust the Lord’s plan above all else.
