NFL fines Atlanta Falcons, DC Jeff Ulbrich for Shedeur Sanders prank call

Shedeur Sanders was the major topic of this year’s NFL Draft for a wide array of reasons, including a Day 2 prank call. That call included an individual impersonating New Orleans Saints GM Mickey Loomis before Sanders continued his fall down the draft board.

Due to the call coming to Sanders’s private cell phone, the NFL launched an investigation into the source of the number being leaked. It was eventually revealed that Jax Ulbrich, the son of new Atlanta Falcons DC Jeff Ulbrich, was the perpetrator of the call. He discovered Sanders’s number in an open iPad while visiting his parents’ house.

Now, the NFL is fining both the franchise and Jeff Ulbrich himself for the incident. According to Ian Rapoport, the Falcons have been fined $250,000 and Ulbrich has been fined $100,000 for failing to prevent the disclosure of confidential information.

Shortly after the NFL’s investigation, Jax Ulbrich shared an apology on social media. He also said he called Sanders personally and offered an apology over the phone.

Considering the apologies and the fines handed down on Wednesday, it appears safe to say we can close the book on arguably the most expensive prank call in the history of prank calls.
