Like many, Ben Affleck cannot wrap his head around W-2s, 1099s, and the complexity of the U.S. tax system.
Ben joined Travis Kelceand Jason Kelceon the April 30 episode of their podcast, New Heights. While there, he discussed male friendships, Boston sports, and Ben’s new movie, The Accountant 2.
During the conversation, Jason asked Ben a very important question: “Could you actually file your own taxes?”
“Can you go into a glass room and start writing on the walls?” added Travis, referencing what Ben’s character does in the first movie when he conducts a complex audit that involves a lot of mathematical calculations.
Ben made it clear that he only plays an accountant. “I mean, yeah. I could file ‘em,” he told the Kelce brothers with a laugh. “I might get arrested.”
Amid the cross-chatter, Ben said, “I can do that. I’m tempted to do that. You can write a lot of things down, but it’s not the right answer, though.”
Released in 2016, The Accountant was a sleeper hit, making $155 million at the worldwide box office. In the film, Ben portrayed Christian Wolff, a certified public accountant who is neurodivergent. His career of helping criminal organizations with their accounting lands him in the crosshairs of some dangerous men, and from there, it turns into a pulse-pounding action movie.
The sequel hit theaters on April 25. In the new movie, Christian recruits his estranged and dangerous brother (Jon Bernthal) to help him uncover a deadly conspiracy. The movie made $24.5 million in its opening weekend and currently has a 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Ben brought his and Jennifer Lopez’s children to the premiere of his new movie on April 16: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel, whom Ben shares with ex Jennifer Garner; and JLo’s twins Emme and Max, whom she had with her ex, Marc Anthony.
Though Ben and Jen ended their two-year marriage by finalizing their divorce in January, they remain close. “
"For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,” said Ben at the premiere. “She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person…who I adore and am grateful to.”
