Takes a sharp rise in the weights after winning the Albert Bartlett very well.
That was a huge step up in performance after disappointing in two previous Grade 1 contests in Ireland.
But he’s always had that bit of potential and that was finally unlocked at Cheltenham Festival when jumping better and forging on to take the lead fairly late on and push for the win.
Kalypso’chance
Interesting bumper for the Grade 1 Champion INH Flat Race – of which Bambino Fever is the clear and deserved favourite.
The mare Bambino Fever, by Jukebox Jury, is a course winner and now a distance winner after storming home to take the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham Festival.
The mare was ridden out but still had a bit left to see it out comfortably enough.
She also receives a 7lb allowance for being a mare which is also of help to her here, given the same at Cheltenham and still beating her 16 rivals.
Switch From Diesel has improved since being second behind this mare, but needs more on reappearance.
Kalypso’chance was not only too keen at Cheltenham, but was even bumped a little in the home turn and could stand a better chance here now on yielding ground.
Galopin Des Champs
Galopin Des Champs was a shock second place in the Gold Cup last month but now comes into this looking to make up for not one but two second places in the Gold Cups, including this race last year when placing second to Fastorslow.
But he’s 11/10 and can’t be discounted from winning again with this price too valuable.
Spillane’s Tower was far behind in the King George to Banbridge, and then the winner himself was not with it at all at Cheltenham, giving Galopin Des Champs a big chance to stamp his stamina authority on this.
Unquestionable
Looked great for Aidan O’Brien but he’s since gone to Richard Hannon and makes a reappearance for the first time in 316 days.
The four-year-old has had plenty of time for progression and after some great performances including winning the 1m Grade 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf makes huge appeal here.
Big Mojo
Could well be nowhere near his top mark after his two-year-old career consisting mostly of group 5f contests.
Beat Aesterius by 3/4 of a length at Goodwood before placing second on his first attempt at 6f at York in August.
Faced Aesterius again at Doncaster, just missing out by a neck in the Group 2 Childers Stakes.
Then went to Del Mar for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint placing a very respectable fourth of 12.
Went off for a wind op a few months later and after his solid consistent form, he’s sure to be better now with even more potential for going well over 6f.
