Deion Sanders Makes Cryptic Statements After Son’s Disappointing NFL Draft

Deion Sanders made a few bold but vague statements following his son's poor showing at the recent NFL Draft.

Shedeur Sanders, a quarterback once expected to be a Top 10 selection, finally found a home in the NFL on April 26, the third and final day of this year's Draft. The Cleveland Browns, who passed on him six times prior, chose Shedeur as the 144th overall pick.

Days later, Shedeur's father—a 2-time Super Bowl champion and current head coach of the University of Colorado Boulder football team—posted a few cryptic messages on X.

"Let it go! Let it go & then Let it go!" wrote Deion on April 29. "It doesn't matter what they think, what they say, or what they feel. God has the final say. You stay prayed up, stay focused & keep your Peace & watch God do what he does. Open up Windows, Doors & Create Opportunity for!"

This message came a day after Deion posted that "a lie doesn't care who tells it or repeats it. Its goal is to be heard." Deion, aka "Coach Prime," claimed that the truth "could be standing right in front of [you] consistently for years, but [you] don't see it because a lie is in your mind."

"The Truth may not be as popular as a lie,  but the Truth wins in the end," added Deion.

Shedeur spent two years playing for Jackson State before transferring to Colorado, joining his father, who had become the new head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. Coach Deion then named his son the starting quarterback.

In his senior year, Shedeur threw for 353 completions, 4,134 yards, and 37 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He had the third-highest accuracy rating in the NCAA Division I football, according to PFF.

However, Shedeur reportedly doesn't throw as hard as others and isn't as mobile. Some analysts credit these negatives as why he went undrafted for so long. Now, Shedeur will compete for a spot on the Browns' roster for the upcoming NFL season.
