While fans are most likely to recognize T-Pain for his auto-tuned rap vocals on a variety of hit songs, the musician is actually an incredibly talented vocalist—something that dropped the jaws of those who were previously unaware when he whipped out an '80s rock classic.
During his set at the Stagecoach music festival over the weekend, the "Buy U a Drank" rapper delighted fans by "finally letting his real voice out" on a cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," and he wowed so well that one fan even called him "one of the greatest entertainers we have" after seeing a video of the unexpected cover uploaded on TikTok.
"He took one look out into that white crowd and he understood the assignment," one person joked after watching the clip, as another gushed, "LMAO I LOVE HIM."
"That’s it, I’m buying tickets to T-Pain," a third declared.
"His singing voice is amazing!" several applauded, as another wrote appreciatively, "I love that he is finally letting his real voice out!"
"I love how the 70 80s music is still alive today," others noted of the song choice, with someone else even cheekily declaring, "T-Pain is my Kelly Clarkson."
For those not in the know, T-Pain released On Top of the Covers, an album full of covers that includes "Don't Stop Believin'," in 2023.
