JERRY Jones shared a strong statement concerning how he felt about the Dallas Cowboys’ NFL Draft.
The longtime NFL owner has his eyes set on the franchise winning a Super Bowl for the first time since 1995.
After trading one pick away, the Cowboys made selections in last week’s NFL Draft, including first-round pick offensive lineman Tyler Booker.
The other selections include second-round pick edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku, third-round pick cornerback Shavon Revel Jr., fifth-round picks running back Jaydon Blue and Shemar James, linebacker, as well as four sixth-round or later players.
Jones raved about the team’s draft selections after the conclusion of the Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
“This is an outstanding draft,” Jones said during a press conference on Saturday.
“We really helped our football team with this draft.”
Jones knows a thing or two about how drafts work, as he’s been the Cowboys’ owner since 1989.
The 82-year-old acknowledged that draft’s don’t always work out, but he expressed confidence in the team’s picks on paper.
“We all know the old deal,” Jones said.
“We’ll wait and see how it plays, but based on what the results have been on paper here right now, the way we’ve got there, looking at hindsight and what have you, this is an outstanding draft.
“We’ve really helped our football team with this draft.”
The other selections include sixth-round picks, offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius, defensive tackle Jay Toia, running back Phil Mafah, and seventh-round pick defensive tackle Tommy Akingbesote.
Jones also gave kudos to Brian Schottenheimer, who worked his first Draft as the Cowboys’ head coach.
“It was great to see [Brian Schottenheimer] and the confidence that we have with Will [McClay] and the scouts, and it was just great…” Jones said.
“To see that come together of Schotty taking these new guys, the approach to them, Will working the scouts… this was a good draft.”

The Cowboys didn’t draft a wide receiver for the first time since 2020.
The team has expressed its goal to land a WR2 opposite star CeeDee Lamb.
A wideout addition through a trade or free agency hasn’t been ruled out by Jones.
“It was definitely a big time thought,” Jerry Jones said when asked if wide receiver was the subject of a “substantive trade” Jones had brought up earlier in the week.
“The train has not left the station if improvement is needed from what we’ve got on campus.”
The Cowboys will have their eyes set on OTAs (Organized Team Activities), which begin next month as they look to rebound for their disappointing 7-10 campaign in 2024.
