Prince William might have a close relationship with his father, King Charles, but it's clear he intends on making his own mark on the monarchy. And apparently, he wants to make himself much more approachable to fans, especially during public events.
He reportedly just got rid of a major family protocol that was kept in place by the late Queen Elizabeth II and also King Charles: posing for photos and selfies during royal appearances.
According to The Express, he's taking a "new approach to public engagements." Royal Editor Emily Ferguson explained of his recent rip to Estonia:"On the first day of his trip, he fully embraced the crowds and appeared to revel in the dozens of requests for selfies, happily taking people’s phones to take the snap himself. Spending almost 40 minutes outside in the brisk temperatures as darkness approached, William was in no hurry to head into the warmth of the waiting car."

Ferguson continues:"The prince always used to spend time greeting well-wishers but never with the same enthusiasm as his father. But that’s changed in recent months, William is spending longer and longer on walkabouts and is more than happy to pose for endless pictures."
The Prince of Wales clearly understands that if he wants to connect with younger generations, he's going to have to cut back on some of the royal formalities that have been longstanding traditions.

William is also reportedly taking a more relaxed approach to royal travel, favoring shorter trips, like the Estonia visit. According to an insider for The Times, "What you saw last week is a short, impactful trip that showcased an important issue.
