The last player chosen in the draft has affectionately become known as “Mr Irrelevant.”

New England marked their selection with a post on X.

But they were quickly forced to delete the message.

The team selected cornerback Kobee Minor out of Memphis with the final seventh-round pick.

The Patriots posted a graphic of Minor in action with the words “Mr Irrelevant” in the background.

    Their caption read, “A Minorrrrrrrrrrrr”.

That is in reference to a famous Kendrick Lamar lyric from his 2024 Drake diss-track Not Like Us.

Lamar sang the lyric to accuse Drake of being a pedophile.

Drake launched a defamation lawsuit against Lamar as a result.

And the Patriots swiftly deleted the post on X.

Lamar performed his track Not Like Us during the Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans, Louisiana.

He left out the word pedophile from the performance.

Minor was delighted to get his shot with the Patriots despite the social media error.

“I love it because I’ve never been a highly recruited guy,” Minor said.

“I’ve never been one of the top guys.

“So, really this isn’t anything new to me.

“I’m going to just go out here and do what I got to do, put my head down and grind, like I’ve always have.”

New England had 11 selections in last week’s NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Their first four picks were all offensive players starting with lineman Will Campbell at No. 4 overall.

They also selected two special teams stars and one more on offence.

Minor was their fourth and last defensive selection.
