Rahmanullah Gurbaz will open the innings along with Sunil Narine for defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. The Afghan opening batter would look to capitalize on a batting-friendly wicket at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Sunil Narine, who will partner with Gurbaz at the top of the order, will look to do the same as the left-hander has been in search of runs in the ongoing season of the league.
Middle-order: Ajinkya Rahane (c), Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh
Ajinkya Rahane, the KKR captain, would like to replicate the form he has shown in IPL 2025 so far and would hope to lead from the front in what is a must-win match for the team after the last game against PBKS was washed out due to rain.
Ajinkya Rahane will need good support from an experienced player like Venkatesh Iyer, who was criticised for his inability to hit boundaries in the middle overs against GT. The left-hander would like to put on a strong show in the middle overs against the experienced duo of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav in the middle overs.
Along with Venkatesh, players like Rinku Singh and Andre Russell would like the top order batters to provide a platform for them to have an opportunity to flex their muscles in the middle overs, which hasn't been the case in the last few games.
One of the things to watch out for in the next game for KKR would be the batting position of in-form batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who found himself batting at number nine in the last completed match at the Eden Gardens against GT.
Bowlers: Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Anrich Nortje, Varun Chakravarthy
Although KKR's batting hasn't been up to the mark one of the positives for the team in the tournament so far has been their bowling led by the pair of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy both of whom have done a decent job in the middle overs by restricting the opposition's scoring rate thereby not letting them to post an above par total on the board.
The duo of Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora has been effective with the new ball and has picked up wickets in the first six overs and in the final five overs, as well. The Ajinkya Rahane-led side would want one of the two fast bowlers to take the responsibility of picking up wickets once the ball gets old.
Having said that, KKR have been struggling with the choice of third fast bowling option and have tried the likes of Spencer Johnson, Anerich Nortje, and Chetan Sakariya, with Nortje being the only one who has made some sort of impact in the few matches he has played in the ongoing season.
