Arizona kicker Tyler Loop picked in 6th round by Ravens amid Justin Tucker investigation

The Baltimore Ravens became the second team in the 2025 NFL Draft to nab a kicker, selecting Arizona standout Tyler Loop 186th overall.

Loop kicked through 67 field goals over his five seasons in Tucson, including at least 18 in each of his last three years. He boasts a career long of 62 yards that set a new program record.

He was 18-for-23 as a fifth-year senior in 2024, with three of his misses coming from beyond 50 yards. He had been perfect on extra points before this season but missed two this year to finish his career 126-for-128.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Loop showed why he belonged in the NFL. He tied Florida State’s Ryan Fitzgerald for the second-best performance by making 13 of 14 kicks in the kicking competition, one of which was a 60-yarder.

Why controversy is front of mind with Tyler Loop selection by Ravens

The selection came as longtime Ravens kicker Justin Tucker faces sexual misconduct allegations.

The Baltimore Banner has reported that over a dozen massage therapists have accused Tucker of inappropriate sexual behavior. The NFL has said it would investigate. Tucker has maintained he did not act inappropriately while receiving professional bodywork treatment.

By using a draft pick — even one in the late rounds — on a kicker, the Ravens may be signaling some doubt as to whether Tucker will be with the team much longer.
