As the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to enter its business end, Delhi Capitals are all set to receive a huge injury boost.
Their star opener Faf du Plessis is set to make his much-awaited return to action in the coming days. The former South Africa captain opened the innings for Delhi Capitals in three of the first four games of the ongoing IPL 2025 before missing the following four matches in a row due to an injury.
Faf du Plessis, who is also Delhi Capitals' vice-captain for the season, has not played since the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 10. He picked up the injury during that match. The veteran batsman suffered the injury when he put in a sprint from extra cover to catch the ball hit by Rajat Patidar.
It was the eighth over of the innings, and Faf du Plessis walked off the field after the completion of the over. Later, he opened the innings and managed to score only 2 runs. While Delhi Capitals have not missed his services much as they have continued stacking up wins, they would want the experienced batter in their lineup soon.

Jake Fraser-McGurk provides update on Faf du Plessis:
Delhi Capitals opener Jake Fraser-McGurk provided an important update on du Plessis, saying that his teammate is fit and is available for selection for the next game. Delhi's next match is against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday (April 27).
"I think he’s available tomorrow, from my understanding. He should be available for selection, is my understanding," Fraser-McGurk said at the pre-match press conference.
According to reports, du Plessis also batted in the nets on Saturday and looks set to return to action during the match against RCB. Meanwhile, DC will be eager to extend their impressive run this season and will be eyeing another win.
They have already defeated RCB once this season and will be fancying their chances of beating them once again. DC are currently at the second spot in the points table, and a win over RCB will take them to the top of the table.
