Chelsea vs Everton predictions, odds and betting tips

Chelsea continue their pursuit of a top-five finish when they host Everton at Stamford Bridge on Matchday 34 of the Premier League. The Londoners will be looking to build on last weekend’s 2-1 win away at Fulham.

Everton made life very difficult for Manchester City in their last Premier League outing. They look set to do the same to Chelsea in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.

    Chelsea vs Everton predictions

Once talked about as genuine title contenders, Chelsea are now in a real fight just to claim a place in the Premier League top five.

With less than ten minutes remaining of their west London derby against Fulham last Sunday, the Blues were 1-0 down, and set to make it three Premier League matches without a win.

Late goals from Tyrique George and Pedro Neto turned the match on its head and saved head coach Enzo Maresca from even more scrutiny.

The 2-1 win over Fulham kept Chelsea in touch with the top five. They are just outside the Champions League qualification places in sixth place. The Blues have 57 points from 33 matches. They are two behind fifth-place Newcastle.

Had that gap been five points at the end of Matchday 33, it would have been very difficult to see Maresca’s team in the Champions League next season.

The question now is, can they capitalise on last Sunday’s change in fortune?

Everton lost for only the third time under David Moyes in last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at Goodison Park. Late goals from Nico O’Reilly and Mateo Kovacic secured the three points for City.

In beating Everton, City joined Aston Villa and Liverpool as the only other teams to beat the Toffees in the Premier League since the return of the Scotsman.

Moyes has led Everton to Premier League safety. When he returned to Goodison Park in January, playing in the Championship next season was a genuine possibility.

But, instead of being in the middle of a relegation dogfight with just five matches remaining, Everton sit 13th in the Premier League on 38 points from 33 matches.

On a slightly negative note, Everton have only won one of their last eight. But proving that the Toffees can’t be underestimated, that was a 1-0 win away at Nottingham Forest on Matchday 32.

    Chelsea vs Everton betting tips

Chelsea have a remarkable record against Everton at Stamford Bridge. The Londoners haven’t lost to the Toffees in west London since 1994. They are 29 matches unbeaten against Everton at the Bridge. How’s your luck Enzo? Our match betting tips follow:

    Everton to win or draw

Not only did Chelsea’s late comeback win against Fulham keep them in the race for a Champions League place, it also ended an eight-match run without a win on the road for the west London club.

Thankfully for Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s home form has been better. That was until Ipswich Town held the London Blues to a 2-2 on Matchday 32.

This is a huge match for Maresca. His job is now thought to be under threat. Imagine the headlines and fallout if his team becomes the first Chelsea side to lose to Everton in over 30 years.

It will be interesting to see if they can handle the pressure. This makes backing Everton to win or draw at 11/8 look worth the risk.

Tip – Back Everton to win or draw in the double chance market at 11/8 with Spreadex

    Both teams to score

Everton have scored in 11 of their 14 league matches under David Moyes.

Although the Scotsman is regarded as a defensive-minded manager, it was clear to everybody that the ‘let’s not concede’ system employed by Sean Dyche was leading the club towards the Championship.

As a result, Moyes put more emphasis on getting his team scoring again and the results have spoken for themselves.

Chelsea have conceded in six of their last nine at Stamford Bridge. The three clean sheets have come recently. To put them in perspective, they were against Southampton, Leicester and Spurs.

Maresca’s team have looked nervous at the Bridge in recent weeks and we can see both teams scoring.

Tip – Back yes in both teams to score at 10/11 with Betfred

Enzo Fernandez to score or be shown a card

Enzo Fernandes has scored two goals and been shown four yellow cards in his last ten matches for Chelsea.

The world cup winner has been a driving force behind the Blues in recent weeks. He has almost been dragging the team single-handed by the scruff of the neck.

This has seen him playing a bit on the edge, but from head coach Enzo Maresca’s perspective, he badly needs Fernandez to keep doing what he does.

Fernandez is 7/2 to be shown a card. That could be worth a wager on its own against an Everton team that will fight and make life difficult for Chelsea.

If you feel Fernandez may instead be required to do the goalscoring, you can add that to the wager with Paddy Power for the lesser odds.

Tip – Back Enzo Fernandez to score or be shown a card at 13/8 with Paddy Power
