SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) owner Kavya Maran expressed her disappointment with all-rounder Kamindu Mendis during the IPL 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Kavya's reaction during Match 43 of the season at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Friday, April 25, went viral on social media platforms.
Sunrisers Hyderabad secured their first-ever win at Chepauk in IPL history. SRH pacers delivered impressive performances to restrict the five-time IPL champions to 154. Kamindu Mendis scored 32 runs off 22 balls as the team successfully chased down the target in the 19th over and kept their playoff hopes alive.
Kavya Maran came up with an interesting reaction after Kamindu Mendis missed a golden opportunity. The incident took place in the 16th over of SRH's chase. Left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad overstepped, and Mendis earned a free hit.
The left-handed batter, who was batting on 15 at the time, swung wildly at a delivery outside the off stump but missed completely, leading to a dot ball.
The camera caught Kavya Maran's reaction, a mix of surprise and frustration, and it quickly went viral on social media. Despite the brief cheer from CSK fans, it was Kavya Maran’s animated expression that drew the most attention.

Kamindu Mendis Guides SunRisers Hyderabad to Victory Over Chennai Super Kings
Kamindu Mendis played a crucial role in Sunrisers Hyderabad's victory, scoring an unbeaten 32 runs off 22 balls. He arrived at the crease in a challenging situation and helped guide his team to a successful chase of 155. Mendis hit three boundaries and remained calm under pressure to secure the win in Chennai.
Earlier in the match, Mendis had made an impact with the ball, taking the key wicket of Ravindra Jadeja. He also took a brilliant catch to dismiss Dewald Brevis. Harshal Patel was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. The right-arm pacer finished with four wickets for 28 runs in his four overs.
We Wish We Finished That More Comfortably - Pat Cummins
Captain Pat Cummins admitted that they had a poor record against the Chennai Super Kings. He was satisfied with the win but added that they would have preferred to secure the match more comfortably.
“Our record against CSK isn’t that great, so it’s good to fix that one up. We wish we finished that more comfortably, but overall, happy with that win,” Cummins said.
Sunrisers registered their first victory since April 12, when they successfully chased down 245 against Punjab Kings. This is their third win of the season. They have six points from nine matches and a net run rate (NRR) of -1.103.
With 16 points seen as the minimum required to reach the playoffs, SRH now face the tough challenge of winning all of their remaining five games to stay in contention.
