Richard Gere Shares Rare Details About His Young Kids Lives in Spain

Richard Gere, his wife, and their two young sons are living in Spain — and loving it.

“My wife is so happy there,” the Runaway Bride star, 75, told Page Sixon Tuesday, April 22, at New York City's City Harvest Annual Gala, referring to wife Alejandra Silva, whom he wed in 2018.

Gere and Silva, 42, share two boys — Alexander, 6, and James, 5 — who are also enjoying their time in their mother's home country while soaking up the language.

Silva's "family is there, her culture is there, [our] youngest kids are growing up there, their Spanish is perfect,” the actor told the outlet on Tuesday. In addition to their youngest two sons, Gere and Silva each have two boys of their own — the Pretty Woman actor shares 25-year-old son Homer with ex Carey Lowell; Silva is mom to 11-year-old son Albert.

The family moved to Madrid in October 2024, after putting his New Canaan, Connecticut home on the market. According to Realtor.com, the six-bedroom, 11-bathroom house sold in November 2024 — one month after the move — for over $10 million. (In addition to his Connecticut property, Gere — who owns the Bedford Post Inn in New York's wealthy Westchester County — also has a home in Northern Westchester's North Salem.)

Gere's rare tidbit about the couple's sons comes just days after Silva told the Daily Mail — also at the City Harvest Annual Gala — that the family ultimately has plans to move back to the United States.

She, Gere and their children will live in Spain "for a few years and then come back [to the U.S.]," Silva explained. "But we're always coming back."

She, too, revealed some rare insight into their youngest sons' lives during the interview.

"We'll come back here in the summer because we have the kids at camp," she explained. "We just have to balance our lives there and here."

Gere's son, Homer, is excited to see his father, stepmom and two youngest brothers ultimately come back to America.

"I've been told they're going to move back within the next few years, so hopefully that's the case because I miss them here," he shared with the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

As for why Gere and Silva opted to move to Spain, "For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends and her culture," the Unfaithful star told Vanity Fair Spain in November 2024, per People, adding: "She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers."
