Arizona’s Jonah Savaiinaea was selected 37th overall in the the second round of 2025 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.
He became the second Wildcat drafted, joining wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who was selected eighth overall by the Carolina Panthers.
Savaiinaea played in 36 games in his three seasons with the Wildcats. In his junior season, he led Arizona with an offensive grade of 75.9 per PFF. He played 738 snaps and allowed four sacks, two quarterback hits and 10 hurries.

As a sophomore he allowed only two sacks in 888 snaps and started in 13 games. Savaiinaea was a big contributor in 2023 as he finished second on the team with a 69.7 overall blocking grade, which helped the Wildcats’ offense average 444.0 yards per game (20th in the country). Arizona also had the eighth-ranked passing offense which averaged 308.3 yards per game.
What scouts are saying about Jonah Savaiinaea
The junior offensive tackle impressed scouts at the Senior Bowl by showing off his versatility to play across the offensive line. Talk among draft experts continues to be what position he would play in the NFL — guard or tackle. Savaiinaea registered time at left and right tackle, as well as right guard in his three seasons in Tucson.
In his first season with the Wildcats, Savaiinaea played 790 snaps at right guard, the most he’s played at any position.
Savaiinaea’s blocking technique is his clear strength but can improve on getting stronger, according to PFF. If he can improve his strength Savaiianaea could have a chance at sticking as a right tackle for a zone-rushing squad.
In Eric Edholm’s list of Top-100 draft prospects on NFL.com, the Arizona prospect is ranked at No. 57.
The Athletic’s Dane Brugler listed Savainnaea as the fourth-best guard in the draft class and the No. 55 overall prospect in his top 100. Brugler says that he could stay at tackle but that his play style would best translate to the guard position.

Savaiinaea had quite the draft combine posting top-10 finishes among offensive lineman in a multitude of drills.
