Platte Valley 6, Eaton 5, in Eaton: A resurgent Platte Valley squad snapped a losing streak against the perennially contending Reds that spanned multiple decades. The Broncos led throughout the league affair, going up 2-0 in the first inning and 4-0 in the second. Eaton chipped away but wasn’t able to complete a comeback in the bottom of the seventh. Platte Valley scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to stretch its lead to 6-2. Freshman Cooper Moffatt led the Broncos, hitting 2 for 4 with three RBI. Reds senior Cooper Nider and junior Shane Welle had two RBI apiece. Platte Valley improved to 11-6 overall, 4-2 in Class 4A/3A/2A Patriot League play. Eaton fell to 11-5, 3-3.
Prairie wins two, in Briggsdale: Prairie won both games of a league doubleheader, defeating Briggsdale 17-0 in four innings and 8-3 in five innings. The Mustangs out-hit the Falcons 9-1 in Game 1 of the twin bill. Prairie junior Dylan Chase led the way, hitting 3 for 3 with four RBI, four runs, a triple and a double. Senior Cash Haun had Briggsdale’s only hit. Junior Brennon Bringelson pitched all four innings for the Mustangs, striking out six and walking none. In a slightly more tightly contested Game 2, Prairie out-hit the Falcons 5-4. Bringelson, Chase and freshman Wyatt Walker had two RBI apiece. Mustangs sophomore Riar Holloway pitched all five innings, allowing three unearned runs on four hits, striking out nine and walking one. Senior Tavis Radke and sophomore Ryott Simmonds each had a hit and a RBI for Briggsdale. Prairie improved to 10-5 overall, 6-0 in 1A District 5 play. The Falcons fell to 3-8-1, 1-5-1.
Resurrection Christian 7, Liberty Common 5, 8 inn., in Fort Collins: Resurrection Christian may have needed an extra inning, but it managed to keep its lengthy win streak alive. Trailing 4-2 through six innings, the Cougars scored a pair of game-changing runs in the top of the seventh. Resurrection Christian proceeded to score three more runs in the extra inning. Sophomore Braedyn Budd led the way, connecting on 3 of 4 at-bats, recording two RBI and a double. Senior Charley Wilson hit 3 for 4 with three doubles, three runs and a RBI. The pitching duo of Budd and senior Merick Fisbeck combined to allow four earned runs on eight hits, striking out 12 and walking two. The Cougars won their eighth consecutive game and improved to 11-4 overall, 6-1 in 4A/3A/2A Patriot League play.

Eagles senior Logan Vaniddekinge pitched all five innings, allowing one earned run on one hit, striking out 10 and walking two. Sophomore Gavin Bohl led Dayspring’s offense, hitting 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run. The Eagles improved to 12-3 overall, 4-1 in 2A Mile High play.
Sterling 4, Valley 3, 8 inn., Sterling: Valley fell inches short of a marquee league win. The Vikings scored two runs in the top of the sixth to lead 3-1 heading into the final inning of regulation. Sterling scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to force an extra inning. Junior Alfonso Medina had Valley’s only RBI, hitting 2 for 5. The Vikings fell to 8-9 overall, 2-5 in 4A/3A/2A Patriot League play.
Brush 5, Weld Central 1, in Brush: Weld Central couldn’t find any rhythm at the plate, as it suffered its sixth consecutive loss and fell to 6-11 overall, 0-6 in 4A/3A/2A Patriot League play. The Rebels led 1-0 before Brush shifted the momentum with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Beetdiggers out-hit Weld Central 7-3. Junior Lucas Johann had the Rebels’ only RBI.
Rocky Mountain 5, Windsor 4, in Windsor: For the second time this week, Windsor dropped a closely contested conference affair against a strong Rocky Mountain squad. The Wizards went up 2-0 in the first inning but quickly fell behind after a three-run top of the second by the Lobos. Trailing 5-3, Windsor scored a run in the bottom of the seventh but fell just short of completing the comeback. Wizards senior Ethan Fillinger hit 2 for 3 with two RBI and a home run. Fillinger and junior Wyatt Gustafson combined to pitch a solid seven innings for Windsor, allowing one earned run on six hits, striking out 11 and walking three. The Wizards fell to 13-5 overall, 5-3 in 5A/4A Northern Conference play.

Windsor, Resurrection Christian, Severance claim top 3 spots, in Sterling: Local teams dominated the field during the 20-team Sterling Invitational at the Sky Ranch Golf Club. Windsor and Resurrection Christian each shot a 39-over-par, three-golfer score of 255, tying for first. Severance was third (274).
Windsor senior Macy Kleve shot a 2-under-par 70 to place first overall. She was well-complemented on the Wizards team by sophomore McKenna Hersh (92, 9th), junior Ruth Stephens (93, 10th) and senior Abbie Winterbottom (94, 12th).
Resurrection Christian received a balanced team effort from senior Brooke May (81, 3rd), junior Karina Garcia (84, 4th) and junior Avery Stockslager (90, 6th).
Senior Sophie Morgan (88, 5th) represented Severance, as did senior Katelyn Johnson (91, 7th), senior Reagan Mendoza (101, 21st) and sophomore Jaycee Runner (95, 13th).
Boys lacrosse
Resurrection Christian 12, Jefferson Academy 2, in Broomfield: Resurrection Christian’s midseason surge continued, as the Cougars won their sixth consecutive game and improved to 9-2 overall, 4-0 in 4A Northern Conference play. Resurrection Christian immediately assumed control, leading 5-1 after one quarter and 11-2 after two. Sophomore Jacob Arnold was one of five Cougars players with multiple goals. He had a hat trick. Senior Zander Adfield and sophomore Jacob Adams each had two goals and two assists.
Girls soccer
Weld Central 2, Windsor Charter 2, in Windsor: Weld Central senior Kayla Branch’s two goals matched a goal apiece by Windsor Charter seniors Dillan Brown and Isha Sharma, as neither team was ultimately able to get the upper hand. The Rebels moved their record to 3-9-1 overall, 1-3-1 in 3A/2A Patriot League play. The Firebirds moved to 4-3-2, 1-3-1.
Roosevelt 1, Greeley Central 0, in Johnstown: Roosevelt just narrowly prevailed in this conference nail-biter, scoring the match’s only goal, in the first half. Freshman Addalynn Burbridge had the goal for the Rough Riders. Senior Isla Molina recorded an assist on the goal. Roosevelt freshman goalkeeper Karla Herrera helped preserve the win with 14 saves. The Rough Riders snapped a six-game losing streak and improved to 2-9-1 overall, 1-6 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play. Greeley Central fell to 2-8-3, 0-4-2.
Frontier Academy 1, Fort Morgan 0, in Fort Morgan: Frontier Academy continued to prime itself for a potential postseason run, winning its 11th consecutive match and improving to 11-2 overall, 5-0 in 3A/2A Patriot League play. Wolverines senior Lexi Jamsay scored the game’s only goal in the first half. Junior Bailey Girten assisted on the goal.
Poudre 9, Greeley West 0, in Fort Collins: Greeley West struggled in all facets of its season finale. The Spartans wrapped up their season at 3-10-2 overall, 0-6 in 5A/4A Northern Conference play.
Thompson Valley 9, Severance 0, in Severance: Severance could never get on track in this league loss. Thompson Valley scored four goals in the first half and five more in the second. The Silver Knights fell to 6-4-3 overall, 2-2-2 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play.
Sterling 4, Valley 0, in Sterling: Valley trailed just 1-0 at halftime but could never get its offense going in this league match. The Vikings dropped their fifth consecutive match and fell to 3-8 overall, 0-4 in 3A/2A Patriot League play.
Girls tennis
Windsor 7, Greeley Central 0, in Greeley: Windsor won all seven sets of this nonconference dual in straight sets, including a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. The Wizards improved to 3-7 overall. Greeley Central fell to 0-11.
Boys volleyball
Severance 3, Eagle Ridge Academy 0, in Severance: Severance remained red hot, winning its 12th consecutive match and improving to 16-6 overall, 13-0 in 4A Northern Conference play. The Silver Knights won 25-17, 25-19, 25-20. Senior Aleksander Kimek led the way with 14 kills and three blocks. Fellow Severance senior Gabe Schneekloth added 38 assists and four blocks.
