As April fades away and May enters, the Best of the Week offers various events to start the new month.
From celebrating independent bookstores to donating blood, everyone can find something to do to welcome the new month.
Saturday
The Midnight Oil Bookstore will celebrate Independent Bookstore Day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 827 10th St. The store will host its third annual golden ticket scavenger hunt. Each ticket is worth at least one free used book, with additional prizes including a new book of your choosing, a Book-to-Film ticket and free books for a year.
Words of Windsor Books and Gifts will join in the Independent Bookstore Day celebrations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the store, 631 Birch St. Unit B. There will be giveaways, book specials, treats and other fun activities throughout the day.
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Greeley hosts an Earth Day Fair and Film from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 929 15th St. There will be children’s activities, worm composting, an art show and sale, food and a screening of “2040” at 1:15 p.m. The movie showcases practical solutions to environmental concerns, with the hope that the world will be in a better environmental shape in the year 2040.
477 Distilling presents Pink Prom from 7-10 p.m. at 123 E. 5th St., Loveland. The party celebrates the release of 477 Distilling’s cotton candy spirit. Gii Astorga is the special guest DJ.
Sunday
The 2025 Salty Dog at Highland Hills Golf Course starts at 10 a.m. for breakfast at the course, 2200 Clubhouse Drive, Greeley. At 11 a.m., the shotgun start begins. It’s $35 to register. Go to greeley.golf/blog/event/salty-dog-2025 to register and for more information.
Monday
Comedian Zane Lamprey takes the stage from 8-9:30 p.m. at Loveland Aleworks, 118 W. 4th St. Tickets for the 21-and-up show are $27 and can be purchased at tinyurl.com/32yb93km.
Tuesday
An information meeting about joining the Girl Scouts is from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Glenmere Park in Greeley.
Wednesday
Sip, Paint and Plant for Mom is from 6:30-9 p.m. at Hud Café by Fresh Plate, 6402 Union Creek Drive, Loveland. Tickets for this event are $30, which will include painting, drinks and a plant to take home. For more information, go to the Hud Café Facebook.
Thursday
Northridge High School is partnering with UCHealth to host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the school’s library, 7001 Grizzly Drive, Greeley. To donate, participants must be 18 or older, or 17 with a parent’s permission. Donors must weigh at least 120 pounds.
Friday, May 2
INTHEWHALE with special guests Underseer, Post Paradise and Summer of Peril take the stage at 8 p.m. at the Moxi Theater, 802 9th St., Greeley. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased at moxitheater.com.
